The Monastery of Three Priests

In September, 2004, with the blessings of Catholicon-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, construction of new monastery and convent, named after three bishops – Basil the Great, Grigol the Divine and Ioane Okropiri, has started in the village of Bertsopeli. The village was empty at that time but as soon as the construction has started, inhabitants of Adjara were settled there. Most of the settlers were not christened and the local monks from this monastery christened them.

The village is also well-known with its miraculous spring, which starts on the territory of the church and which has a lot of trout in it. According to the legend, these trout and spring water have cured people from different diseases and people could even touch the trout with their hands.

The Charity Fund ‘Ertguleba’ had constructed road, cells for Three Bishop Monastery and provided it with heating system.
