The author of building church of patron saint for Caucasus was Great Russian Lord Mikheil Romanov. The church was built under the order of general-governor   of the Caucasus Ilarion Vorontsov-Dashkov and his spouse. The church is a hall type, roofed with a wide eight windowed dome in the east side. This is supported by extensions of apse and linear walls. Eastern part of southern and northern walls is divided with deep arches creating certain kind of rhythm. Interior is plastered with a light blue color. Gilded high iconostasis and similar color of stars into the dome are sharply found on combined simple background.

There are three entrances in the church: symmetrically disposed in the center of the southern façade and western part of lineal walls. In front of each entrances is formed arched portico supported with a couple columns and semi columns (the columns have a distinguished form – jug kind and low and that is why the bases are very high). The protruded apse of church is pentahedral. Out of its three windows, the central one is false. On the top of apse is erected a spire ended with a small dome. The same dome is built on the bell tower connecting with interior stairs built into the western wall (the same stairs enable us to lead to the balcony of choir).

The relief frames of the complex profile are sharply visible on the façade. At the same time, exterior is not overwhelmed with certain elements and facades look simple. Upper part of construction is more decorated: two rows of gables, rectangular basis of dome, divided with arches and erected narrow neck ending with a small dome. Refectory is arranged westward in the high socle of the church.

Three of the silver colored domes are constructed pursuant to the Russian tradition of “onion shape”. Also according to the Russian traditions, the church is whitewashed and well visible even from the far distance.

Under the blessing of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, Parish School is being constructed into the church yard including church decoration. Fund “Ertguleba” has done its bit into the arrangement of church. There was regulated church communication network by the help of the aforesaid fund.
