The Bediani Monastery

Historically, Bediani was a spot where only monasteries stood. It functioned from middle ages till the Soviet Era. Until the 50’s of the XX century the place was totally uninhabited. In 1954 it was populated by the workers of the Khramhes (Khrami Hydro Electric Station).

Several years prior to the population, nuns from Tbilisi Peristsvaleba Monastery revived religious verve in the Mothers’ Monastery of Bediani. This was the first monastery to shelter homeless children and start taking care of them. These children were later allocated in different houses purchased by various organizations. Each house has one or two supervisors attached to kids.

The Monastery and orphanage have both been under the patronage of Ertguleba Charity Fund for several years now. The Fund supplies them monthly with food and different goods.
