Michel Legrand Concert in Tbilisi

On December 19, 2008 famous French composer Michel Legrand visited Tbilisi together with his wife, sister and two fellow musicians. On the very first day of his visit, the musician was hosted by Patriarch of Georgia Ilia the II.
On December 20 Ertguleba Charity Fund held a feast in honour of the French guest, where Michel Legrand got to have a closer look at Georgian folk songs, dances and cuisine. The evening was attended by prominent figures of Georgian culture. Singer Nato Metonidze sang for the famous composer. Ertguleba Charity Fund presented the guest with a brand cognac. The composer wished the foundation success: “I especially want to thank Ertguleba Charity Fund for the evening and wish them success and bravery in their deeds! Ertguleba truly serves a majestic aim!”

The maestro held a solo concert in the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre on December 21. Legrand performed his famous works with the Tbilisi Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Nika Memanishvili. The composer lingered in Tbilisi for couple more days and attended concert by Sukhishvili Georgian National Ballet. Legrand last visited Tbilisi 20 years ago and according to him, was very anxious for this visit.
Michel Legrand concert was organized by Ertguleba Charity Fundand project Artists for Artists. The profit from the concert will be given to the artist victims of the war.
