Ortubani Virgin Mary’s Birth Convent

In November of the current year, repair works on Virgin Mary’s Birth Convent have been finished. The project began in September. With the help of Ertguleba Fund, refectory repair work was held; a workshop was built on the existing construction, and three machine tools were ordered in Germany especially for the Convent, for wood treatment intended for icon-painting, during this period.

This beautiful Convent, located in the village of Ortubani, Kareli region, is dated by the 16th-17th century.  It includes a church named after Virgin Mary’s Birth and seven-storey bell tower. There are several residing and economic buildings in the area as well.
