The first phase of archaeological research

The Ertguleba Charity Fund  initiated an archeological research at the St. Trinity Church in the territory of Nekresi.  Based on ancient manuscripts, Nekresi church was built around VI century.  The project is incorporated into several stages:  archeological work, conservation of the obtained objects and the repairs of the monastery complex.  The research takes place with Nekresi expedition group of the National Museum of Georgia.  With the supervision of experienced archeologists and historians, at all stages of research, several groups of volunteers of the fund will participate in the expedition.  On April 22, the first group of volunteers settled at the archeological base in Kvareli and began the first stage of research.

At this point, 10 volunteers of Ertguleba charity fund are working on the territory of Nekresi. The foundation and the fence of the church are being cleaned of sand for now.
